چکیده

The last decade has seen an explosion in research reports in the area of C–H functionalization/activation in organic synthesis. This is not surprising. What is surprising is that it took many in the synthetic organic community this long to fully embrace this exciting and enabling technology. After all, organic compounds mainly consist of a carbon skeleton that bears a large number of hydrogens. It is therefore highly desirable to be able to take advantage of the myriad of C–H groups in organic molecules as functional handles for bond formation, and in some cases, bondbreaking processes.

C–H Functionalization

C–H Functionalization has the potential to become a paradigmshifting strategy for organic synthesis. Over the last decade, the field has experienced explosive growth and a large variety of new C–H functionalization methodologies have been developed. In particular, regioselective functionalization of sp2 C–H bonds has become a broadly flexible approach for the synthesis of complex aromatic carbo...

Applications of C–H Functionalization Logic to Cyclobutane Synthesis

The application of C-H functionalization logic to target-oriented synthesis provides an exciting new venue for the development of new and useful strategies in organic chemistry. In this article, C-H functionalization reactions are explored as an alternative approach to access pseudodimeric cyclobutane natural products, such as the dictazole and the piperarborenine families. The use of these str...

C-H bond functionalization in complex organic synthesis.

Direct and selective replacement of carbon-hydrogen bonds with new bonds (such as C-C, C-O, and C-N) represents an important and long-standing goal in chemistry. These transformations have broad potential in synthesis because C-H bonds are ubiquitous in organic substances. At the same time, achieving selectivity among many different C-H bonds remains a challenge. Here, we focus on the functiona...

Synthesis of antiviral tetrahydrocarbazole derivatives by photochemical and acid-catalyzed C-H functionalization via intermediate peroxides (CHIPS).

The direct functionalization of C-H bonds is an important and long standing goal in organic chemistry. Such transformations can be very powerful in order to streamline synthesis by saving steps, time and material compared to conventional methods that require the introduction and removal of activating or directing groups. Therefore, the functionalization of C-H bonds is also attractive for green...

Electrophilic activation of unsaturated systems: Applications to selective organic synthesis*

Selected examples from previous work on iodonium-triggered approaches for the functionalization of unsaturated systems, which summarize innovative transformations, are presented. This section is mostly focused on C–C bond-forming processes from alkynes that are directly bonded to relevant heteroatoms, such as iodine, silicon, or sulfur. Besides, recent advances related to iodonium-promoted C–H ...
